About this site

Gerber South Campsite is a BLM-managed primitive campground located on Gerber Reservoir near Bonanza, Oregon, approximately 42 miles east of Klamath Falls. The campground sits at an elevation of 4,800 feet in the high desert landscape. Gerber South is one of two developed camping areas (along with Gerber North) at the Gerber Recreation Area, which encompasses nearly 4,000 acres surrounding the reservoir. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-serve basis with no reservations. During peak season (mid-May to mid-September), a small fee is charged and services including maintained restrooms, trash collection, and a camp host are provided. During off-season (October 1 through mid-May), camping is free but amenities such as drinking water, trash collection, and camp host services are not available. Facilities include approximately 50 gravel sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads. Vault toilets are available year-round. Seasonal potable water from hand pumps is provided during peak season. An RV dump station serves the recreation area. Maximum vehicle length is 30 feet. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites. Pets are welcome but must remain leashed. The site is accessible by vehicle and offers recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding, and OHV activities in the surrounding backcountry.
