About this site

FS Road 2667 (Roman Nose Access) is the developed parking and trailhead area at the end of FS Road 2667 in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, providing access to Roman Nose Lakes and Trail #165. The site includes a small parking area and serves as the starting point for hikes to the three Roman Nose Lakes, which lie at about 5,900 feet elevation in the Selkirk Mountains. Camping is authorized only in designated campsites along Trail #165 at the middle and upper Roman Nose Lakes; no camping is allowed at the lower lake. Dispersed camping is permitted at the two upper lakes, but only in designated sites. The area is open roughly from mid‑June to mid‑October, weather permitting. The lower lake has a vault toilet and picnic tables, but no potable water or additional restrooms. Gas‑powered motorboats are prohibited on all three lakes. Horse and pack animals are not allowed at this site. Additional Info: This is a US Forest Service developed access point and trailhead, not a traditional campground with RV hookups or showers. The site is vehicle‑accessible and suitable for day use and as a base for backpacking or dispersed camping at the upper lakes.
