About this site

Roman Nose Campground is located at 5,900 feet elevation in the Selkirk Mountains of Idaho Panhandle National Forests, near a scenic chain of three sub-alpine lakes. This small, rustic camping area offers three designated camping and picnic sites plus one group site, each equipped with picnic tables. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water on-site. While camping is not allowed at the lower lake, dispersed camping is permitted at the two upper lakes. Trail #165 accesses all three lakes and provides spectacular views of the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountain ranges. The access road requires high-clearance vehicles, as the route follows Forest Service roads that can be rough and confusing. Visitors should bring their own water and be prepared for primitive conditions in this remote mountain setting. Additional Info: Parking area at the end of FS Road 2667. Typically open June 15 through October 15, weather permitting. Fires allowed. Pets allowed.
