French Beach Provincial Park Group Site
About this site
French Beach Provincial Park is a 59-hectare oceanfront park located on the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the west coast of southern Vancouver Island, 20 km west of Sooke via Highway 14. The park features 69 campsites (including one group site), a large grassy day-use area with an adventure playground, picnic tables, fire rings, and a 1,600-meter sand and pebble beach. The park is open year-round, though water and sani-service are unavailable outside the regular May to October season. Amenities during peak season include pit toilets, drinking water, dump station, and firewood sales. Every campsite has a gravel driveway, fire pit, and picnic table. The park is known for whale watching, with gray whales migrating north February to early May and returning in fall. Resident killer whales, otters, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, and ospreys can also be seen. The park offers hiking trails, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, and bicycling. Pets are allowed on leash. No powered sites are available. RVs and trailers up to 40 feet can be accommodated. Generator use is permitted in accessible campsites 9–11 am and 6–8 pm.
