About this site
Designated dispersed camping site in the Hyalite Recreation Area of Custer Gallatin National Forest along East Fork Hyalite Road (Forest Road 3163). Located within ½ mile of the main Hyalite road, marked with a carsonite sign with a tent symbol. Free, first-come-first-served camping. Campfires must be contained in permanent metal fire rings. Food must be secured in a bear-proof manner. The Hyalite drainage restricts camping to designated and signed campsites only, with no dispersed camping allowed elsewhere along the road or creek corridor. Access to popular recreational opportunities including fishing, hiking, rock climbing, and waterfall viewing.
