FR 171 Campground
About this site
This is a designated dispersed camping area. Camping allowed only within designated, numbered sites. When the forest is in fire restrictions NO FIRES are allowed at this location. This camp area is fee free and as such it is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out area. Be a good steward of your public lands and help us keep this area FREE by packing out everything your bring in with you. This camping area is located immediately adjacent to the Mogollon Rim Escarpment and a few campsites are bordered by a 300+ ' vertical drop. Additional Info: FR 171 Campground is situated along Old Rim Road (FR 171) behind the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests at approximately 7,700 feet elevation. The area features numerous campsites scattered along the forest road under towering Ponderosa pines on a first-come, first-served basis. Restrooms are available; potable water is not. High clearance vehicles may be needed during snow or heavy rain. The remote location offers dark skies suitable for stargazing.
