Fortress Cliff Campground

Fortress Cliff Campground is a tent-only campground within Palo Duro Canyon State Park featuring 17-18 primitive campsites on the southern end of the park near the equestrian campground. Sites include shade shelters, fire rings, and picnic tables. Water is available via spigots in the campground but not at individual sites. Restrooms consist of portable toilets located at the campground, with shower facilities 0.5 to 2 miles away at the RV campground. The campground is open year-round and offers over 10 miles of nearby trails. Pets are allowed. No RVs, travel trailers, or motor homes are permitted in this area.

Fortress Cliff loop is good, with sturdy shade structures, fire rings, picnic tables, and maybe a lantern hook and water. I stayed at Site 34 which had plenty of room as well as a ring of bushes I could nestle my tent into for shade The Lighthouse Trail is a must, but I was also recommended the Rock Garden trail but couldn’t fit into my itinerary
