Flat Mtn Bay

A primitive boat-in campsite at Flat Mountain Bay on Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park. Shoshone Lake is the second-largest lake in Yellowstone National Park and the largest backcountry lake in the lower 48 states that cannot be reached by road. Access requires non-motorized watercraft only; motorboats are prohibited. The site includes a food storage pole or bear box and may have a pit toilet. Wood fires are not permitted in the Shoshone Lake region—campers must use portable stoves. All water sources require treatment or filtering. Advance reservations through Recreation.gov are required and cannot be made before June 15. Open June through October.
