Escalante Petrified Forest State Park Campground

Escalante Petrified Forest State Park campground is located on the shores of Wide Hollow Reservoir, approximately two miles northwest of Escalante on Scenic Byway 12. The campground features 22 single-family campsites plus one accessible site for visitors with disabilities. Campsites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs and are equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and shade structures. Loop A offers standard sites and partial hookup sites with water and electricity, while Loops B and C provide full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer. The campground includes a group site accommodating up to 50 people with a pavilion featuring 20-amp outlets and water. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers (closed seasonally mid-November to mid-March), and a sanitary dump station. The park's signature petrified forest trail begins at the campground, offering access to fossilized trees and panoramic views. Wide Hollow Reservoir provides opportunities for boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and swimming. The park is open year-round with self-service check-in and no entrance gate. Generators are not permitted as many sites provide electrical hookups.
