El Cerro Upper Campground

El Cerro Campground is part of Villanueva State Park, nestled between high sandstone bluffs that form a canyon along the Pecos River near the village of Villanueva, New Mexico. The park features 36 developed campsites where visitors can camp or picnic under the shade of giant cottonwood trees. The campground offers both reserved and first-come-first-serve sites, with 12 electric sites available. Amenities include water, RV dump station, showers, and toilets. The park can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. First-come-first-serve sites are available year-round, with spaces 26c-36c in the upper El Cerro campground offered April through October, and sites 20-25 available November through March. Fire restrictions are in effect; only devices fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG that can be turned on and off are permitted.
