Dos Picos County Park
About this site
Dos Picos County Park is located in Ramona. Its name, which means "two peaks" in Spanish, comes from the two large mountains nearby. The park's surrounding ranchland and steep, rocky slopes help keep its peaceful and quiet atmosphere. You can come for the day, but you’ll want to stay for the weekend. This quiet park is perfect for camping and has many options, like sites with partial hook-up, tent spots, ADA-accessible cabins, a youth group area and coin-operated showers. The park also has picnic tables, horseshoe pits, soccer fields, a covered pavilion, and restrooms. Fishing at the nearby lake is also popular. Dos Picos is a great place for weddings and special events. Dos Picos is home to many plants and animals. The park has a mix of chaparral, open grasslands, and oak trees, which help support the wildlife. Coast live oaks are common, and Engelmann oaks can also be found there. Coyote, fox, possum, skunk, and raccoon are all seen in the park. Look up to the sky to view birds like great blue herons, egrets, ducks, red-shouldered hawks, woodpeckers and western bluebirds. California quail are afoot in the early mornings, while the evening skies are filled with the sounds of resident barn, screech and great horned owls.
