Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site, located on the braided Delta River, is one of the state's most scenic campgrounds with views of some of the tallest peaks of the Alaska Range. There is also a great opportunity here to examine alpine plant life. This secluded wilderness campground is seldom crowded and has 12 campsites, a public use cabin, toilets, and water. A variety of wildlife inhabit the area around Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site. Moose, bear, porcupines, beavers, and snowshoe hares are fairly common, as are many species of birds. The campground and surrounding hills are popular locations to pick blueberries. The campground offers a good base camp for exploring the Alaska Mountain Range. The Delta River and Alaska Mountain Range offers numerous day trip opportunities. Additional Info: Twelve campsites situated along a loop road with fire pits and hiking trail. Located 32 miles south of Delta Junction at Mile 238 of the Richardson Highway.
