The Diversion Dam Recreation Area in Tonto National Forest offers primitive dispersed camping along the Upper Salt River near the mouth of Roosevelt Lake. It includes five access points: Rafter Take-Out, HZ Wash, Diversion Dam, Eucalyptus Access Points, and EADS Wash. Features vault toilets and garbage service at some areas. 14-day camping limit. Incredible landscapes with organ pipe cactus and rugged mountains. Potable water not generally available; pack in water or purify sources. Open year-round.
