Overview This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. Additional Info: Dexter Campground is located on the northern shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir in San Isabel National Forest, approximately 20 miles south of Leadville on Highway 82, at 9,300 feet elevation. The campground offers 11 tent-only sites and 8 large RV sites. Facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Check-in is at 2 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m., with quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. A maximum of 8 people per site is allowed, with a maximum of 3 tents or 1 RV and 2 tents per site. Dogs must be leashed at all times. The campground operates year-round; during off-season winter months, camping is free but vault toilets are closed and no services are available. Full services typically operate late spring through early fall.
