Devil's Hopyard State Park Campground
About this site
Devil's Hopyard State Park Campground offers 21 spacious, wooded campsites in a scenic 940-acre state park near East Haddam, Connecticut. The campground's principal feature is Chapman Falls, which drops more than 60 feet over a series of steps in Scotland Schist stone formations. Sites are set among stately oaks, maples, and beeches near the Eightmile River, a designated National Scenic and Wild River. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The park offers excellent birding, hiking trails, and fishing for brook and brown trout in clear, cool stream water. The area is renowned for its perfectly cylindrical potholes, some of the finest examples of pothole stone formations in the region. Camping is primitive with vault toilets available but no water, electric, or sewage hookups. The campground operates seasonally from mid-April through September 30th. Maximum stay is 14 days per site, with up to six people per site. RV sites accommodate vehicles up to 35 feet in length.
