Cumberland Valley Hiker-Biker Overnight (HBO) Campsite is located at mile 95.2 along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath near Williamsport, Maryland. This is a primitive, walk-in campsite accessible only by foot or bicycle, part of a series of 31 hiker-biker campsites spaced approximately every 5-7 miles along the 184.5-mile C&O Canal trail. The campsite operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required. Maximum stay is one night per trip, making it an ideal waypoint for through-hikers and cyclists. The site accommodates a maximum of 5-10 tents depending on specific site capacity. Amenities include a chemical toilet (available year-round), picnic table, and grill. Non-potable well water is available seasonally from mid-April through mid-November; campers must bring their own water during the off-season. Water must be filtered, chemically treated, or boiled before drinking or cooking. Fires are restricted to the provided grill only. The campsite is not ADA accessible and may be subject to flooding after heavy rains.
