Crystal Hill Rock Collection Area

Crystal Hill is a designated rockhounding site within the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, located about 8 miles south of Quartzsite, Arizona. It is known for its abundant quartz crystals and is a popular destination for recreational rock collectors. The primary find is quartz, which can be found in both veins and as individual crystals. Most of the quartz crystals are milky white or clear. Other minerals like tourmaline and pyrite can also be found in some veins. Collection Limits: Collectors are limited to a maximum of 10 specimens or 10 pounds (whichever occurs first) in any 12-month period for noncommercial, personal use. Stay on Roads: Vehicles must stay on designated roads. Safety Warning: The area was used for military practice in the past, so unexploded munitions may be present in the surrounding desert. Do not pick up any military hardware.
