Chimney Pond Campground
About this site
Chimney Pond Campground is a backcountry campground in Baxter State Park, established in 1938. It offers 11 lean-tos, 11 tentsites, an 8-person bunkhouse, and a 2-person cabin called Camp Cozy. The site provides access to Katahdin peaks and trails to Russell Pond via Davis Pond and Northwest Basin Trail. Amenities include primitive toilets and bear lines for food storage. Open fires are not allowed. Reservations required via phone, mail, or in person; no online reservations for this site. Summer season opens June 1 (conditions permitting) to Oct 15. Additional Info: Access is by a 3.3-mile hike. Pond water must be boiled or filtered. Swimming not allowed in the pond.
