About this site

Chief Hosa Campground, located at 27661 Genesee Dr in Golden, Colorado, is set at an elevation of about 7,600 feet within the 2,400-acre Genesee Mountain Park. The campground spans 58 wooded acres and opened in 1918 as America's first motor-camping area. It features 61 sites total: 35 RV sites with water and electric hookups and 26 tent sites. The campground offers clean facilities including well-maintained bathrooms and coin-operated showers. A historic Chief Hosa Lodge, designed in 1918 by architect Jacques Benedict and constructed of hand-quarried Colorado Rainbow granite and lodge-pole pine, is located nearby and available for event rentals. The park is home to a city-owned bison herd. Hiking trails are available on-site, and the campground provides easy access to I-70, approximately 20 miles west of Denver. As of January 1, 2022, reservations are required and must be made through the online reservation system.
