The campground is located on the ridge above Chevelon Canyon Lake in a mixture of ponderosa pine, juniper and pinyon pine.Chevelon Canyon Lake offers spectacular views and opportunities for hiking and fishing.NO TRASH SERVICE AVAILABLE. This is a Pack-it-in / Pack-it-out area. Take your trash with you when you leave. Additional Info: Chevelon Canyon Lake Campground is a primitive, no-fee camping area at 6,800 feet elevation in Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. The campground features several undeveloped campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. A 3/4 mile trail provides access to Chevelon Canyon Lake via a steady descent. Boating is permitted with motors 8 HP or less. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit. Access requires traveling remote forest roads, including Forest Road 169B, which requires a high-clearance vehicle. Access roads are not cleared in winter and may be inaccessible during periods of heavy snow.
