This is an Appalachain Trail shelter. Additional Info: Chestnut Knob Shelter is a unique stone fire warden's cabin with four walls and a door, located on the open summit of Chestnut Knob at 4,409 feet elevation. It offers views of Burkes Garden valley and can sleep up to 8 hikers on wooden bunks. A privy is nearby in the woods.
