Charcoal Hearth Campground
About this site
Charcoal Hearth Campground is located within Pine Grove Furnace State Park in south central Pennsylvania near Harrisburg and Gettysburg. The 74-site campground operates from March to mid-December and offers both electric hookups and primitive sites spread across wooded loops. Two swimming lakes anchor the park's recreation offerings, connected by a rail trail suitable for biking. The campground features flush toilets, warm showers, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. A sanitary dump station is located near the campground entrance, and a seasonal camp store is one quarter-mile away. The park is a popular stop for Appalachian Trail hikers at the trail's halfway point.
