Capulin Campground
About this site
Capulin Campground is a first-come, first-served wild camping area located in Carson National Forest near Taos, New Mexico, approximately 7 miles from town along US Route 64. The campground features 8-10 sites accommodating both tent and RV camping, with amenities including picnic tables, fire pits with cast iron grills, portable toilets, and free potable water. Most sites have standing charcoal grills with cooking utensils. A tipi option is available with walk-in access. Pets are welcome. The area is known for nearby attractions including the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Taos Pueblo, Rio Fernando de Taos fishing, and a trail to an ice cave waterfall. No electrical, water, or sewage hookups are available, and there are no shower facilities.
