About this site
Historic African-American religious campground founded after the Civil War by the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, located near Winnsboro in Fairfield County, South Carolina. Features approximately 100 one-story frame cabins called tents arranged in a double U-shape, a central open-air arbor, Zion Church built around 1930, and a cemetery. Hosts annual camp meetings in August. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. Additional Info: Situated on 11 acres off U.S. Route 21 near Ridgeway/Monticello. Managed by Camp Welfare AME Zion Church.
