Camp Tall Pines is located on 5 1/2 acres on Lower Range Pond in Poland, Maine and was founded in 1968. Owned and operated by Special Olympics Maine since 1993, the facility offers overnight camping to persons with intellectual disabilities, hosting up to 32 campers weekly from all over the state of Maine. Accommodations include 2 self-contained cabins (wheelchair accessible, 3 bedrooms, fully insulated and heated with kitchen/dining area, living room, bathroom and laundry, sleeping 9 individuals comfortably) and 2 self-contained open room cottages (8 beds each, with electricity, bathroom, mini-refrigerator and monitor heaters, available May-October). A seasonal Recreation Hall and seasonal Kitchen are available May-October. Camp Tall Pines offers a formal Summer Season (June–August) consisting of 10 one-week (Monday through Friday) vacation opportunities, as well as a first-come-first-serve option for non-summer season vacationing. The facility is available for use by any school/agency providing services to persons with intellectual disabilities on a scheduled basis, with a required camper to staff ratio of no less than 3 to 1.
