About this site

High-altitude alpine camping area on Mount Rainier at 9,460 feet, located on Steamboat Prow between the Emmons and Winthrop Glaciers. Facilities include a ranger station and solar toilet. Camping is permitted on snow on the NNW side of camp; camping on rocks is prohibited. No potable water is provided; climbers must melt snow and treat or boil water. Blue bags must be used for waste and deposited in the container near restrooms. Reservations required. Pets not allowed.
