About this site
Camp Samac features over 66 ha (163 acres) of forested nature in the middle of the fast-growing City of Oshawa, in the Durham Region of Ontario. Despite being surrounded by housing and institutions, Camp Samac remains a quiet and restful playground for the youth of many community organizations including Scouting. There is plenty of outdoor space and forests, winterized cabins, hiking trails, meeting spaces and programs offered year-round. Camp Samac was founded in 1946 and is one of Scouts Canada’s largest campgrounds, in terms of both size and participant numbers. Onsite are 17 buildings, 9 established camping sites, a seasonal lake (summer only) for water activities, outdoor swimming pool, recreation fields, hiking trails, and an activities centre for program. Additional Info: 9 established campsites with fire pits, capacity up to 50 campers per site, outhouses, potable water taps, no electricity. Cabins available with bunks, heated, some with flush toilets and showers. Managed by Scouts Canada for youth groups and scouting events.
