Camp Harkness is a 102-acre state park located in Waterford, Connecticut on the shores of Long Island Sound, operated by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services. The property features open and wooded land, beachfront access, and a tidal marsh. It is one of the few state parks in the country designated for use by people with disabilities and their families and friends. Facilities include year-round and seasonal cabins, year-round cottages, seasonal tent sites, picnic pavilions with grills, an accessible playscape, barnyard animals, and horseback riding. The beach is open for swimming from 9am-5pm during summer months (Memorial Day to Labor Day). Passholders with a permanent disability and their guests (up to 5) may access the park for day-use from sunrise to sunset year-round, and may reserve overnight accommodations and picnic areas.
