Additional Info: Camp de Leon (CL-1) is a primitive roadside campsite located 3.6 miles from the main paved road to Rio Grande Village along the Old Ore Road, which is maintained for high-clearance vehicles only and may require 4WD after rain. It accommodates up to one vehicle and 6 people. No shade, toilets, or other amenities are provided. A backcountry permit is required, available up to 24 hours in advance at Panther Junction or Chisos Basin Visitor Centers. Offers panoramic views of the Chisos, Chilicotal, and Sierra San Vicente mountains. Generators are prohibited.
