Camp 1, Zaleski State Forest
About this site
Backpacking campsite in Zaleski State Forest, with nearby pit toilets and a potable water source maintained by Ohio's Department of Natural Resources. Very busy most weekends in part because Ohio has relatively few planned backpacking options on public lands. Campsites support both tent camping and hammock camping. Additional Info: One of three official designated campsites along the backpacking trail system. Camping is only permitted in designated campsites. Hikers must register prior to entering the trail at either trailhead location. The backpack campsites are primitive and offer a latrine and potable water year-round. Water caches may not be serviced in winter due to bad road conditions; backpackers are advised to carry their own water.
