Camino Cove Campground
About this site
This is a free, developed campground offered by El Dorado National Forest. With 32 campsite units, some with picnic tables and fire rings, and vault toilets, it's situated on a peninsula of Union Valley Reservoir. It's a popular destination for locals seeking weekend camping for fishing and water activities. Additional Info: Located on the northwest shore of Union Valley Reservoir at 4,875 feet elevation, approximately 17 miles from Highway 50. The campground operates June through October on a first-come first-served basis with no reservations. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are available, but there is no drinking water. Bear boxes are provided for food storage. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers, with single sites limited to one vehicle and six people. Recreation opportunities include fishing for rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon, motorized boating, kayaking, and swimming. A beach and West Point boat ramp are nearby.
