Camel Lake Recreation Area
About this site
Camel Lake Recreation Area provides a quiet place to relax and take in the beauty of the longleaf pine forest. Surrounding one of the few crystal-clear lakes in the Apalachicola National Forest, the area offers camping, swimming, hiking, and boating opportunities focused on the crystal-clear waters of Camel Lake. The campground features 10 well-shaded sites above the lake's rim, all suitable for RVs or tents. Four sites offer electric hookups with 30/50 amp service. A short loop trail surrounds the lake, with longer loops possible incorporating the nearby Florida National Scenic Trail. Seepage slopes in the forest create pitcher plant bogs, easily visited along the Florida National Scenic Trail. Additional Info: Open year-round. Day use fees $5/vehicle. Camping fees via recreation.gov. Access via unpaved Forest Road 105.
