Buffalo Horn Trailhead

Buffalo Horn Trailhead provides access to the Buffalo Horn Trail and other trails in the Buffalo Horn Creek drainage within the Hyalite Porcupine Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area. The trailhead is located at the end of Buffalo Horn Creek Road (FR 6907) off Highway 191, south of Big Sky, Montana. The trail meanders through forest and meadows along Buffalo Horn Creek and offers opportunities for looped day hikes and access to higher elevation terrain. Additional Info: This trailhead is managed by the Custer Gallatin National Forest, Bozeman Ranger District. The trailhead has a horse ramp and a vault toilet. Potable water is not available at the site. From April 1 to June 15, the area is restricted to foot traffic only to protect spring melt conditions; mountain bikes and stock use are prohibited during this period.
