Brundage Reservoir Dispersed
About this site
Brundage Reservoir Dispersed camping area is located in the New Meadows Ranger District of Payette National Forest, accessed via Goose Lake Road (Forest Road #257) approximately 15 miles from McCall. The area sits at a high elevation near Brundage Reservoir and offers primitive dispersed camping opportunities in a scenic mountain setting. Campers can enjoy fishing at the reservoir, which allows small motorized boats, and explore nearby trails leading to Granite Lake, Goose Lake, and other alpine destinations. This is a true dispersed camping experience with minimal facilities. A vault toilet is available at the nearby Brundage Reservoir Dam Day Use Site. Campers must be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles, including packing out all trash. The area encompasses high mountain meadows with beautiful scenery typical of central Idaho's backcountry. Dispersed camping is permitted year-round, though Goose Lake Road is typically snow-free only from July through October, and winter access may be limited or impossible due to snow. The stay limit across Payette National Forest is 14 days within any 30-day consecutive period.
