About this site

Bronco Trailhead is a dispersed camping area on Tonto National Forest located on Forest Road 24, approximately 15 miles north of Carefree, Arizona. The site is primarily used as a parking and staging area for the Cave Creek Trail system. It features parking for 40 vehicles plus trailers, six horse pens, a manure bin, and stock water for horses. A few picnic tables are scattered throughout the area. The site is free and first-come, first-served with no designated camping sites. Recreational opportunities include horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. The last 3 miles of Forest Road 24 is an all-weather gravel road that is narrow with blind curves.
