Located on State Route 16, near Alvon, West Virginia, Blue Bend is in a rustic and beautiful setting along scenic Anthony Creek. The area serves both campers and daytime visitors, and is popular for fishing, swimming, hiking, and picnicking. Most of these Additional Info: Blue Bend Recreation Area offers 21 single-family nonelectric campsites, each with a parking spur, picnic table, campfire ring, trash bin, and lantern post. Flush toilets and showers are available seasonally, with vault toilets and a hand pump for water in spring and fall. The area features picnic shelters, a swimming hole in Anthony Creek, trout fishing, and access to the 5-mile Blue Bend Loop Trail with scenic overlooks into Big Draft Wilderness. Constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
