Black Mountain Yellow Post Sites are a series of six free, first-come-first-served dispersed campsites located along Black Mountain Road (Forest Road 4S01) in the San Bernardino National Forest, San Jacinto Ranger District, at approximately 6,594 feet elevation. Each site is marked by a yellow post and is approximately one acre in size. Sites are suitable for tent camping, car camping, and truck camper camping. Amenities at each site include a picnic table and fire ring only. There is no water, no restrooms, no trash containers, or other developed campground facilities. A California Campfire Permit is required for any fire use. Maximum stay is 14 days in any 30-day period. High-clearance vehicles and 4WD are recommended; motorhomes and trailers are not suitable. The road is typically closed during winter months. Dogs must be on a leash not longer than six feet or under physical restrictive control. Accessed via Highway 243 north of Idyllwild, turning right onto Black Mountain Trail/Forest Route 4S01 and continuing approximately 2+ miles.
