Black Gap WMA FC 9-10
About this site
Black Gap WMA FC 9-10 is a primitive fishing campsite located along the Rio Grande within the Black Gap Wildlife Management Area in west Texas. The site is part of a larger network of 26 hunting campsites and 25 fishing campsites scattered throughout the WMA. Most sites have a picnic table, a fire ring/grill, and a shade shelter. Visitors must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The only restroom facility is located at the headquarters campsite. Only 'dead and down' wood may be collected for firewood, and all campfires must be in the provided fire rings. Camping is only allowed at designated sites for resource protection. Additional Info: Black Gap WMA is a 103,000-acre wildlife management area northeast of Big Bend National Park, bordering Mexico along the Rio Grande. The WMA is open year-round but closes for special permit hunts; visitors must check with the WMA for specific dates. General visitation is allowed only during March 1–August 31 and is restricted to certain roads accessing the Rio Grande corridor. Visitors must possess a Texas public hunting permit or limited use permit, and a Texas fishing license if fishing in the Rio Grande. Hunting may occur year-round, and visitors are required to wear blaze orange clothing and headgear at all times. Access to some areas, including Maravillas and Horse Canyons, Rio Grande, and the headquarters campsite, is restricted from March 1 to August 31.
