Birch Creek Campground
About this site
Birch Creek Campground is a BLM-managed recreation area in Jefferson County, Idaho, along Birch Creek between Sawtooth and Caribou-Targhee National Forests. It offers approximately 25 developed campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, plus additional undeveloped camping areas south of the middle access. Most individual sites are first-come, first-served and free (donations accepted), with 4 reservable group sites at $35/night for 20-100+ people. Easy access off ID-28 near Mud Lake provides fishing for trout and proximity to national forest recreation. Interpretive panels at the main entrance cover Nez Perce National Historic Trail history. Note: Roads may have flood damage ruts; sites 19-27 limited to RVs up to 32 feet due to bridge restrictions. Typically open May-October.
