Big Pines is BLM's largest recreation site in the Yakima River Canyon, located on Canyon Road between Ellensburg and Yakima, Washington. The site offers 37 campsites with both standard nonelectric and tent-only options. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, nearby dumpsters, and a non-motorized river put-in/takeout site. Several group campsites and walk-in-only campsites are available. The northern edge is adjacent to undeveloped hiking trails managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Overnight camping costs $15 per night (standard sites) with a maximum 7-day stay limit. Reservations are available May 1 - September 15; outside this period, use the self-serve fee payment station. Dogs must be leashed. Maximum two vehicles and 10 people per site.
