Big Pines Recreation Site is the BLM's largest recreation site in the Yakima River Canyon, located along the Yakima River between Ellensburg and Yakima, Washington. The site contains 41-42 campsites including 38 RV sites and 3-4 walk-in only tent sites, plus several group campsites. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, nearby dumpsters, and a non-motorized river put-in/takeout site. No hookups or potable water are provided. The northern edge is adjacent to undeveloped hiking trails managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Overnight camping costs $15 per night. Dogs must be on a leash. The reservation system operates May 1 - September 15; outside this period, use the self-serve fee payment station.
