Big Flat Parking Lot - Michaux Campsite #1 is a designated motorized campsite in Michaux State Forest, available year-round with reservations required. It is one of four parking lot sites open during winter camping season (third Sunday after Thanksgiving through April 1). Camping permits must be obtained online or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Limited to seven consecutive nights with a 48-hour gap before returning. No electric hookups, dump stations, or modern facilities; some areas have pit latrines or vault toilets. Dead and down wood may be gathered for campfires when permitted. Additional Info: Located along Shippensburg Road in the South Mountain area of Franklin County. Reservations via Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservation website.
