Bass Lake State Forest Campground (Luce)

This rustic campground is located near Bass Lake in Luce County, 15.5 miles northwest of Newberry via M-123 North, County Road 407 and Carlson Camp Road. The campground offers 18 campsites for tents and small trailers. Sites range from shaded by trees to open fields perfect for stargazing. Bass Lake is just a short walk away and can be accessed via a gravel road or stairs from the campground parking area. The 145-acre lake is a popular spot for fishing (pike, bass, and panfish) and paddle sports. A boat launch is located on Bass Lake, across the road from the campground. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. The campground is open all year; however, the campground and seasonal roads are not plowed. Nearby fishing opportunities include Buckeye Lake (1 mile west) and Murray Lake (1 mile north). This campground provides access to state land open to hunting, though firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.
