About this site

Barron Creek Boating Site is a free, dispersed camping area situated approximately 25 miles northeast of Libby on Forest Development Road 228, along the western shore of Lake Koocanusa in the Kootenai National Forest. The site features seven camping sites divided into two sections: three sites in an open area that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet with fire rings and nearby vault toilet, and four additional sites in the boat dock parking area with vault toilet access. A fully developed boat ramp with dock is available for anglers and boaters. The campground road and boat ramp are paved, while parking spurs and loops are native material. The site operates on a pack in/pack out basis with no potable water available. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leash. Stays are limited to 14 consecutive days. The campground and boat ramp receive active management from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Access is year-round but weather-dependent, particularly during winter months.
