About this site
Backpack Shelter #3 is one of five year-round backpack shelters in Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The shelter has a concrete floor with sleeping benches on three sides, fire ring, and pit toilet. It is set in a thick, mixed-hardwood forest, located about 7.2 miles from Shelter #2 and 3.0 miles from Shelter #5. Drinking water is available at the insulated wellhead spigot at Parnell Tower parking lot. Park sticker required at parking lot. Reservations required; call 262-626-2116. All camping equipment must be backpacked in and refuse packed out.
