Azalea Lake Camping Area
About this site
Azalea Lake is located in the Red Buttes Wilderness in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest on the Oregon-California border. The lake is a broad, round, fairly shallow subalpine pool set beneath the gray bluffs of Figurehead Mountain at approximately 5,970 feet elevation. Several unimproved campsites are located along the shore of the lake. Camping and campfires are banned within the trail loop that circles the lake; campers should tent in the sloping area west of the loop. The lake is the source of the Butte Fork of the Applegate River and is the largest body of water in the remote Red Buttes Wilderness.
