Austin F. Hawes Memorial Campground is located in American Legion State Forest along the Farmington River in Barkhamsted, Connecticut. It offers 29-30 tent campsites and 6 cabins in a wooded setting. Amenities include restrooms, showers, dumping station, picnic tables, and portable toilets during early season (April to early/mid-May when running water is unavailable). One pet per site is permitted. Activities include fishing, kayaking, hiking, and picnicking. The camp office is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with cabin check-in by 5:30 p.m. Additional Info: Bathhouses undergoing infrastructure updates during the 2026 camping season. Youth group camping available.
