Apple Island
About this site
Located on the Eleven Point river halfway between Greer access and Whitten, Apple Island is a small gravel bar with a grouping of sycamores perfectly spaced apart for 6 or so hammock campers. This is only accessible by canoe/kayak and is an excellent overnight campsite. Moving water keeps mosquitos away, nice sleeping noise, and a self replacing island full of driftwood for campfires. Enjoy the family of otters across the stream and don’t mind the occasional boat of locals who may come in at dawn and fish the stretch next to the island. Above the island there is a cave in the cove before the rapids. We stay here every night we can.
