Anderson Lake West State Forest Campground
About this site
This more-secluded, rustic campground features 13 sites for tent, small trailer and large trailer use. The sites are located near Anderson Lake and are mostly shaded by large white pines. The campground offers excellent opportunities for fishing and paddling. The Anderson Lake Pathway trailhead is located within the campground and offers 6 miles of looped trails. The campground is located 5 miles southwest of Gwinn via County Road 577. No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are vault toilets. Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well. No electrical available. Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. One camping unit and six people are allowed per site. Additional Info: Panfish and pike are caught in Anderson Lake. A nearby fishing opportunity is the Escanaba River (4 miles east). The trailhead of the Anderson Lake Pathway is within the campground and provides access to 6 miles of rolling terrain for non-motorized use. This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.
