About this site

Alger Island Campground is a boat-access-only campground located on Fourth Lake, the largest lake in the Fulton Chain of Lakes near Old Forge, New York. The island features 15 lean-to sites and 2 tent sites, each equipped with fireplaces and hibachis. Lean-to sites include picnic tables; all sites have pit toilets. The campground offers a primitive camping experience with no potable water or shower facilities. A hiking trail circles the island. Fourth Lake supports fishing for lake trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, and landlocked Atlantic salmon. Motor boats, rowboats, and canoes are permitted. Registration and permits are issued at the Fourth Lake Day-Use Area headquarters at 303 Petrie Road, Old Forge, NY 13420, where car-top boat launching is available. The campground operates seasonally from May 15 through September 7. Pets are allowed.
